GREENCO service-learning event organised in Rovinj, Croatia

The first service-learning event was organised in Rovinj, Croatia, between 24th – 26th May 2024. Six master students from University of Zagreb Faculty of Civil Engineering acted as mentors for 36 VET students, together with 4 VET teachers and 2 HEI teachers. They were given different topics connected to sustainability of construction and had to prepare short presentation. Their joint work was followed by individual preparatory work in classrooms with their teachers. Topics covered by VET students, mentored by master students were as follows:

1. Construction and demolition waste management

2. Recycled materials in construction, urban mining

3. Green facades and roofs

4. Nature-based solutions

5. Bio-based materials in construction

The main goal of the learning event was to establish connection between VET and master students, forming learning and working environment, developing their soft skills of teamwork, mentoring, preparing and presenting their work in front of audience.
