Technical visit by students as part of the GREENCO project

The students of the "Green Building" course at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb had the privilege of participating in a two-day excursion to Slovenia, which took place on 14 and 15 March as part of the GREENCO project. During this educational trip, the students had the opportunity to deepen the concept of sustainable construction by visiting two important sites.

On the first day, they visited the Knauf Insulation Experience Centre in Škofja Loka. This centre, known as KIEXC, is an excellent example of sustainable construction at European level and has been awarded the Platinum certificate by the DGNB. With its innovative approach and concept, the KIEXC was designed to showcase the latest insulation solutions and best practise examples of sustainable construction. Students had the opportunity to see how theoretical concepts are applied in practise, learn about the certification process and exchange practical knowledge with company representatives. Maro Puljizević, the research and development representative at Knauf Insulation, gave a comprehensive overview of acoustics and sound insulation, enriching their experience.

The next day, the students visited Gnezdo, a company that has been following the principles of naturalness for over a decade. Based on the belief that natural, local and renewable materials are the way forward, Gnezdo started fifteen years ago to follow the best national and international practises in natural building and material selection, putting the idea of sustainable building into practise. The director of the company, Anton Pugelj, shared his wealth of experience with the students and showed them numerous examples of sustainable construction. The students also had the opportunity to visit two construction sites to gain an insight into the practical application of sustainable construction techniques and materials. This excursion was of great benefit to the students as they were able to gain valuable experience and practical knowledge in the field of sustainable construction.
