Student technical visit: Innorenew research institute and Gnezdo sustainable building  center

As part of the 'Green Building' course, a two day study visit (27th and 28th March 2025)was made to Slovenia where ste students visited Innorenew research institute, which conducts research focused on renewable materials and sustainable buildings, especially on innovative approaches to wood and its use, with the aim of transferring scientific knowledge into industrial practice.

New generation of students have also visited the Gnezdo Sustainable Building Center, specializing in building with natural materials, and a sustainable building construction site.

Gnezdo is a company that has been committed to the principles of natural building for more than ten years. Guided by the belief that natural, local, and renewable materials represent the future, Gnezdo began its journey fifteen years ago, adopting leading national and international practices in sustainable construction and material selection. The company has consistently worked to bring the concept of sustainable building to life. Anton Pugelj, the company’s director, generously shared his extensive knowledge with the students and presented various examples of environmentally conscious construction. As part of the visit, the students toured two construction sites, where they observed firsthand how sustainable building techniques and materials are applied in real-life settings. This excursion proved highly valuable, offering the students practical insights and hands-on experience in the field of sustainable construction.
